Stephen Rodriguez Sunday, 5/24/09, 12:01 PM Hi, I was born in Temecula, on Pujol Street, in 1950. Much has changed over the past 20 or so years, but one thing remains a constant, and that is the 'winds' that blow through this region daily. When I visit my old city of birth, it is a good feeling to know that some things stay the same. Thanks for your time. From: Montrose California Email: stevorama50@sbcglobal.net What would you like to know about Temecula's History? Is Old Town old town Temecula? christina palmer Tuesday, 6/17/08, 11:36 AM I was baptized in the little chapel there - my grandparent's lived there - my godmother also - my earliest memories have Temecula in them on main street and some of the older neighborhoods (that I am sure are no longer there. From the web site I see, there is little of the Temecula I remember - very tourist now, pretty, but tourist. I remember when Jack Klugmen lived up the road a bit from Temecula. So much has changed in 30 years - I live in an area now who has more buildings still very beautiful and useful after 100 or more years From: there Email: christina.palmer@clevelandcounty.com Marcus Drake Thursday, 12/20/07, 6:34 AM My wife & I were acquainted with Judy Parker, the daughter of Mr. (!! Was it Horace?) Parker who was a retiring veterinarian, raised in Temecula, and was returning there in his retirement. We participated in Judy's wedding at the old hotel in January, 1963 (while we were on our honeymoon). I bet that wedding went down in Temecula history!! We passed through Temecula in 2004 and saw that it had grown a bit since our last visit in 1963! From: Lincoln, Alabama Email: marcusdrake@hotmail.com What would you like to know about Temecula's History? What has happened to the Parker family that bought the old hotel back in 1960 (or so)? About the Swanguens Monday, 8/14/06, 6:38 PM Joel Seay Monday, 8/14/06, 6:30 PM Hi,This appears to be a great website! I am familiar with several of the names listed on your home page. My friend since childhood ,Don Conibear, whose father was Ted Conibear, Bibleland"s Artist and founder(where the Temecula golf course is now)just emailed me your URL I have a couple of photo contributions to the recent publication "Images of Old Temecula". one is of my mother in a group setting with Earl Stanley Gardner. She was one of his Secretaries. She was also a contributer to a publication called "high Country", Along with Sam Hicks and Horace Parker. Anyway, In January 1996, I loaned Tony Tobin my above mentioned Temecula School registry for temporary display at the Museum. He gave me a receipt, which I still have. I asked him for the document back as I wished to do some research on it, some time later and he said it was in storage with alot of other archives and that i'd be able to get it back when the new museum opened. Tony passed away soon after our last conversation. The new curator, Mr. Ott didn't know the registry's whereabouts and frankly offered very little help. I contacted Mrs. Tobin and she looked for it at her Residence in Temecula. She had alot on her plate then ,with the recent passing of her husband and the mountain of materials left for her to go through. i remember her call, however ,a short time later. I will always appreciate her efforts and hold her in highest regard " I found it!" she said , I believe she was as excited as i was. Actually what she had found was a folder stuffed with sheets of paper-copies of the original manuscript-even the cover had been run through a copier! I"m just putting this out there to see if anybody knows what happened to it. I have the copies and the information in it i just can't believe someone destroyed or lost the original document. Did you know that Louis Wolf Junior was corporally punished for "whistling in School" on May 14th 1884 along with j Magee and Chas Wolfe on the 20 and the 21 for "Idleness and Disobedience"? I'd really like to get over this loss-a loss to everybody, really and the only was I know is not give up easily. I have written letters to the museum , the city council-The mayor.Did I mention I'm from Temecula? We just don't quit, do we! Thanks for reading this and don't hesitate to count me in if I can be of any Help to you in any way . Sincerely, Joel From: Temecula Email: Jseay88@cox.net What would you like to know about Temecula's History? Where is my 1883 Temecula School registry? Art Thursday, 3/16/06, 11:15 AM Hi my name is Art and I am soon to be a graduate of the University of La Verne. I recently did my senior project on California's role during the Civil War. It focused on secessionist in California, and California volunteers who protected the Southwest from Texas Confederates. It was during my research that I found Temecula had a brief run in with this period of Civil War history. I am hoping this information found can be of some use. I currently have background information that may fit nicely into an essay. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any use. I do plan on joining the society as soon as I get the money. I just hope there will be room for me in the Research & Preservation committee. From: Wildomar Email: artteat@aol.com What would you like to know about Temecula's History? The exact path of the old Mormon Trail thru Temecula Jeff Moore Monday, 5/16/05, 8:25 AM Is there any way to stop the destruction of Old Town? There were rules as to the types of buildings that could be put up there. Now, it seems, if you wish to restore an existing structure, you must upgrade it to get your permits including the appearance, but new structures can go over the two story limit. Have these rules changed? The new childrens discovery center is a good idea, but it is a bunch of Modern on the East Side of the bridge. There appears to be a Modern 3 story structure one block east of the main street. One of the old buildings had a sign on it that mentions a theater going into it. Will buildings have to fall for the parking? I hope that I am mis-informed and that Old Town will not be changing. From: Yucaipa Email: marla_griffin@yahoo.com Dave Bricker Saturday, 1/25/03, 11:17 AM I just wanted to say thank you for putting the shots of the friedemanns on the web. Pat and Bill are friends of ours. We met while I was working for the Forest Service in Oregon. They would come up and camp at Farewell Bend Campground on the Rogue River every year. Bill and Pat would pick huckleberries around the Union creek area and Pat would come back and bake up a pie and invite me in for a bite. We miss our friend Bill, but Pat still keeps in touch. The web site gave me a glimps of what the meat market looked like. I would always have to guess as they told stories of the place. Thank you. I do have some family history that you might be interested in. I was married in 1956 to Wayne Mackley of Elsinore and we moved to Los Angeles in 1957 where he worked for General Petroleum Corp. (Mobil Oil), then joined the Los Angeles Police Dept and retired after 28 years. We moved to Huntington Beach in 1962 and lived there until my retirement from the Los Angeles Times in 1996. We now live in Cedaredge, Colorado so my desire to keep the Knott name and history of Temecula alive is intense and I will be happy to help in anyway I can.
