May 13, 1910 - Announcement - I wish to announce to the people of Temecula, Murrieta, and vicinity that I have purchased of C. J. North the Temecula Meat Market and Ice Plant and hope the community will patronize the new management as well as they have the old. My aim will be a "square deal to all." H. G. Vogel Prop. - Adrian B. Barnett, who recently purchased a fine new Fairbanks-Morse engine for his well-drilling outfit, is putting down a well on his home place, which looks very promising. At a depth of but thirteen feet the well produces 15 inches of water. Mr. Barnett will go deeper in an effort to secure a supply of at least thirty inches. - Mrs. John B. Kelly has been in Los Angles the past week attending her sister, Mrs. John M. Carr. Mrs. Carr has been so ill as to require an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Carr were former residents of Temecula. June 17, 1910 -For County Assessor - Rumored that Eli E. Barnett of Temecula will be a candidate - Eli E. Barnett attended the late Democratic rally at Riverside. We hear it rumored that he is going to run for county assessor. - Russell Vail is on the Pauba Ranch as superintendent. He succeeds Harry L. Heffner, who has gone to Mexico. - Thrashing grain is on in full swing now. - Freeman Bros. are shipping hay. - Pauba Ranch Company are shipping some beef cattle. - Adrian B. Barnett is developing water on his ranch two miles west of this place. He is meeting with good success. Let the good work go on. We would be glad to see more people developing the country. - Mrs. George A. Burnham and daughter Ethel have returned from Escondido. They have been gone some time. Ethel is very much improved in health. - Joe Winkels is sojourning at the Murrieta Hot Springs. June 24, 1910 - Appeared in July - Mrs. Cephas L. Barnett and three sons have returned home after a pleasant visit with her folks at Upland. - Mr. and Mrs. Tiffany of Los Angeles were in Temecula Saturday and Sunday shaking hands with their many friends here. Mr. Tiffany had charge of our railroad depot here for several years. - The Temecula baseball team gave a dance in the Swanguen Hall Saturday evening. They had a nice crowd and a fine time. - William Thorne, inspector of government surveys who has been working around Temecula has gone to Washington State. One of our local boys, Ole Larsen, went with him. - The Temecula baseball nine are ready for action. They have a good team this year and should give a good account of themselves. - John Nicolas is going to develop water on his ranch in French valley. - Alex Escallier, who has been laid up with an abscess on his neck, is at work again for Cephas L. Barnett. He carries a scar in memory of his pet. - Mrs. Machado has gone to Oceanside to spend the summer. They are furnishing their summer cottage there. - Alex Borel was in town the 22nd celebrating the birth of fine boy who came the 21st. Mr. Borel and the boy are doing fine, but Alex was in a rather critical condition when last seen him. - Herman Vogel made a trip to Los Angeles this week. |
